Another snake ! š I wanted to do a Macoui, the long imaginary serpent that follows a boat as soon as itās named and becomes its wake/spirit. If you want to rename your boat, thereās a whole ritual you have to follow to kill the Macoui linked to the old name, then give birth to a new one⦠I get the feeling this isnāt well known at all, more like a local bit of maritime folklore/tradition. Do you have similar legends where youāre from? Some super obscure thing thatās specific to your corner of the world, but that you think is pretty cool ? š
Well, iridescence is really hard š I think even after all these drawings, I still havenāt fully grasped the technique to get that effect right... Water was a nightmare too š It took me a long time to find the right shading ! Natural elements are so chaotic, yet they follow an underlying logic, and that can be really hard to grasp...
The final drawing doesnāt look like what I had in mind at first, but in the end Iām pretty happy with it because I tried to vary my techniques/styles using Photoshopās lasso tool, and I learned a lot from that!
I think I put a bit too much energy into the bonus pieces XD I made them before the main drawing, I used them to get some practice with iridescence techniques and to get more comfortable with the lasso tool.
I hope you enjoyed this What's In The Egg? ! See you soon for WITE6 āØ
Take care, and see you around ā¤
